Incubator space & more |
Bayer
CoLaborator (West Sacramento, CA)
Research lab space for start-ups
Our West Sacramento CoLaborator is located
on the site of Bayer’s Crop Science R&D Center
close to Downtown. Bayer’s biotech start-up lab
space is designed to house and foster innovative
new ventures to transform modern agriculture and
creates opportunities for idea exchange by
bringing researchers together in a common space.
The CoLaborator space is a flexible, open floor
plan with 3,000 square feet of shared lab and
dedicated office areas with cubicles and
furnished conference rooms. The laboratories
include basic equipment for agriculture tech
start-ups to quickly begin putting their ideas
to the test. Bayer support includes
Environmental Health & Safety services and
applicable environmental Biosafety site permits
as well as waste disposal (including chemical
and bio waste).
Partnering with Bayer can also provide access to
the global expertise and equipment of Bayer’s
research network.
Key features
Co-location at Bayer facility with a separate
entrance, dedicated space, and controlled access
determined by tenants
Open lab space with flexibility to install
mobile benches and biosafety hoods
Lab infrastructure includes chemical safety hood
and chemical storage cabinet
Adjacent equipment room provides space for
larger tenant-provided equipment
Stand-alone IT network infrastructure
Local laboratory and business resources for
start-up companies (not associated with Bayer or
specifically part of the lease arrangement)
What we
offer
Laboratories and offices are at competitive
rates and furnished according to the tenant’s
individual needs. A stand-alone IT network
infrastructure is in place. There is also a
non-exclusive area comprising communal rooms and
communication zones, allowing interaction
between neighbors, colleagues and Bayer
scientists. All tenants can use these areas. The
rental price also includes cleaning, waste
disposal, electricity and heating. Bayer
arranges disposal of special waste, though the
costs must be covered by the respective tenant
and depend on the accrued volume. All tenants
remain independent. Confidentiality agreements
between you and Bayer are signed as needed. To
enhance data security the building is secured
with 24/7 officers.

Bakar BioEnginuity Hub
Berkeley, CA
An inventive
project is moving forward at Woo Hon Fai Hall –
the creation of a full-service life science
incubator known as the Bakar BioEnginuity Hub.
The life sciences are one of California’s
strongest economic engines, and enhancing UC
Berkeley’s standing in the biotech and life
sciences arenas is critical to the future of the
university. A donor-developed project, the Bakar
BioEnginuity Hub will have private labs for
enterprises desiring more dedicated space, wet
and dry open lab benches for faculty and student
start-up researchers, and a single-story,
glass-enclosed addition will add 6,600 square
feet of highly-desired office space to support
the research function.
The Bakar BioEnginuity Hub project will also
thoughtfully preserve Woo Hon Fai Hall, a
National Register building and City of Berkeley
designated landmark. Formerly home to the
University Art Museum, the 47 year-old structure
is rated as seismically poor. Renovations will
comply with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior's
Standards for the Treatment of Historic
Properties, improve connectivity to the campus
park, and give new life to a
seismically-deficient structure as a
state-of-the-art life sciences facility.

Planned
Woodland
Research & Technology Park
A regional
research & technology center, minutes from UC
Davis
Northern California’s agricultural innovation is
anchored by the cutting-edge research and
development at UC Davis – the nation’s premier
agricultural research institution. Woodland
Research Park, a proposed 350-acre project
located just seven miles from UC Davis, offers
the opportunity for established companies and
startups focusing on agriculture innovation to
expand or put down roots in Northern
California’s agriculture and food science
epicenter.
Planned as a thriving work/live campus with over
2 million square feet of research park office
and lab space, 1,600 single and multi-family
homes, parks and open space, Woodland Research
Park will foster collaboration and build
capacity for innovative tenants and partners
seeking to be part of one of the world’s leading
ag and food tech hubs.
With City approval in 2018 and construction
expected to begin in early 2020, companies and
institutions can build Woodland Research Park
into their plans for expansion now.
With the
support of the City of Woodland, University of
California Ag & Natural Resources, and AgStart,
among other regional leaders, Woodland Research
Park is poised to become Northern California’s
ag innovation hub, bringing R&D opportunities
and high quality jobs to the region.
