Attendance to all events is open to all, members and non-members,
and free of charge.

The Seed Central events are well attended: between November 2011 and October 2013, attendees included:

Monthly

  • Seed Central FORUM
    Networking events (4:30 - 7:00) with featured speakers (6:00 - 7:00)

    On the second Thursday of every month (except in July and August),
    the Seed Central FORUM welcomes faculty, scientists, students, seed professionals, members of the food industry, and anyone interested in networking with seed and food professionals.

  • Seed physiology/seed technology
  • Stress tolerance
  • Intellectual property protection
  • Pipeline of traits

  • Seed Central SCIENCE
    Research & Technology Presentations (1:30 - 2:45)

    Earlier in the afternoon, a small number of scientists talk about aspects of their research that are of specific interest to seed professionals.

    A wide variety of themes will be covered.
     
  • Seed Central BRAINSTORMING
    Brainstorming sessions (3:00 - 4:15) seeking to find local solutions to shared needs.
    Examples:
     
    • Medium and long-term human resources needs of the seed industry (joint session with representatives from UC Davis and local community colleges).
    • The potential for collaborative, pre-competitive research facilities on campus (November 9, 2011 and April 12, 2012)
    • Options for technology transfer and access to intellectual property.
    • Option to synchronize variety trials organized by seed companies in the region.
    • Services which several local seed companies would like to contract out locally; Seed Central to attract contractors to the region.
