NETWORKING EVENTS / SHADOWING
DAYS / MEETING A RESEARCH EXECUTIVE

Every
month, we go to great length to attract
students to our networking event.
-
At
every networking event, we draw the name of one
student present that day.
The winner gets
to shadow a seed industry
researcher
for a day or two.
Every three months, the last 3 winners have
dinner with a seed company's research
executive and HR manager.

The drawing system is simple and efficient:
-
at registration, each student is given a
number of BALLOT cards, on which the
student's name is entered;
-
the student gives one BALLOT card to each
industry member he/she visits with during
the networking event;
-
after 90 minutes of networking, all BALLOT
cards are put into the ballot box and one
card is drawn. The more industry members the
student has visited with during the previous
90 minutes, the more times his/her name will
be in the ballot box.
FIELD TRIPS

Several times a year, we take a group of students
to visit a seed or agbiotech company and to talk with the company's employees.
The
Seed
Central field trips are open to all UC
Davis students, undergraduates and graduates.
Postdocs are also welcome.
We also take students to conferences of the American
Seed Trade Association.
GRAND PRIZE INTERNSHIP
---------------------------
Several Seed Central member companies offer
prestigious internships in the U.S. and overseas
to students who attend the Seed Central events.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

Several times a year,
we offer career development workshops where students
acquire networking skills and business etiquette,
craft and practice their "elevator pitch", and learn
what it means to be a business professional.
PAIRING & MENTORSHIP
-------------------------
We pair UC Davis students with seed & agbiotech
professionals for short or long periods.
